I purchased the Blaster Ignition upgrade for my Mk3 VR6 Jetta and I love it. The result was more power, awesome throttle response, smooth idle and even a couple extra miles per gallon. For fuel efficiency and good power, I'd suggest this as a first mod for any VR6.
I was able to set the whole thing up by following the link on the product page. It was pretty straight forward besides a couple small things I did differently. First off, I installed my coil packs with the plug terminals facing the passengers side of the car. It had to be wired backwards from the diagram shown in the forum write up, but with basic wiring understanding (and help from pics from Google), it's actually the easier side. Also, I added a 1 ohm Chrysler two prong ballast resistor. It's simply spliced into the power from the ECM. As for ballast location, the four bolts that came from the original coil pack must be shortened. I left one long enough to bolt the ballast to the the bracket in a safe and neat location.
Here is a great link and explanation for ballast resistor and wire diagram:

P.S. When I ordered, I had a question about shipping. The guys over at USRT were extremely friendly and happy to help and answer questions. They are, for sure, a supplier I trust.
