The Mk2 Front Tubular Cross Bar directly replaces the factory Mk2 Golf/Jetta front crossmember and adds both stiffness and strength to the front end. Put more power to the ground while still isolating engine vibrations from the chassis. Running boost? Use the extra room to fit a larger FMIC. The kit comes complete with radiator mounting tabs and front engine mount compatible with the following radiators, Mk2 8v, Mk2 16v, or Mk3 VR6. Standard black powder coat provides a sleek and durable finish.

Made from mild steel, the setup is beautifully TIG Welded and powder coated for durability and subtle appearance. Slimline radiator fans are recommended with this bar to ensure fitment. Please note: This product is compatible with OEM placement of the engine (OEM engine mounts, or the aftermarket equivalent).
 

Fabless Mk2 VW crossbar rad support

Adjustable upper radiator mounting tabs are available for Golfs and Jettas to fit Mk3 VR6 radiators. They allow the piece to be angled forward and backward to ensure fitment on every set up! These tabs bolt onto the factory (non-Corrado) upper radiator support locations making this a 100% bolt on addition. Earlier 8-valve & 16-valve radiators will require upper mounts to be fabricated. Tabs are not offered for the original Corrado radator. However, the larger Mk3 VR6 unit provides superior cooling and will fit this car's more pointy front end. Upper rad mounts must be fabricated for all Corrado installations. Slim fans are recommended to facilitate fitment.

The purpose of the Mk2 Front Cross bar is added stiffness and strength, our customer have reported more power to the wheels after installing our bar. There’s a decrease in engine movement, but it still isolates the engine vibration from the chassis. It takes up much less space than the factory support, which allows more room for an intercooler possibly, or just provides a cleaner look in the bay. The other thing is it’s getting harder and harder to find a factory VR6 front support that’s in good shape, and people are charging a lot of money for them. The bar is a direct bolt on, and is compatible with all the VR6 engines, the 1.8T, 2.0L ABA and 1.8 16v/8v. If the customer wants to change the engine down the road they can keep the bar and just buy a new front engine mount for it.
